Scam Warning, Be Aware of Fake CRA Emails During Tax Season.

Corporate Accounting and Tax Vernon BC

On behalf of the Team at Clark Robinson CPA’s, we want to remind everyone to be extra cautious of phishing emails during this time of year. Please note that the CRA will never email or text you to request confidential information. We advise that you don’t trust any unidentified sources, even if emails claim to be coming from the CRA. Instead, please log in to your myCRA account directly to check recent mail, or otherwise, please call your accountant to verify. Be especially mindful not to release things like credit card information or SIN’s.

The CRA will only send you emails in 2 situations:

  • You've registered for email notifications and have a new message to view in your CRA online accounts
  • You've asked that a CRA link, form, or publication be sent during a meeting or call with an agent

Emails you receive from the CRA will not:

  • Be from a specific user
  • Ask you to reply to the email
  • Include a link asking you to enter personal or financial information

Thank you!
